We are thrilled to share the latest Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs Pennsylvania Campus updates! Despite facing challenges, our dedicated team is making significant strides toward creating a state-of-the-art facility to enhance our mission of transforming lives through service dogs.

Tackling Challenges Head-On

One of our primary focuses has been finding cost-effective building materials without compromising quality. The soaring inflation rates have posed some difficulties, but our diligent work with engineers, architects, and contractors is helping us navigate these hurdles effectively.

Restoring Natural Beauty

Our commitment to maintaining and restoring the campus’s inherent beauty has led to repairing a pond that was on the brink of implosion. Given that this site was previously strip-mined, it is vital for us to rehabilitate its natural landscape and ensure a serene environment for our future recipients and service dogs.

Security Measures in Place

We are pleased to announce that we have completed the perimeter fencing around the campus. This essential step ensures the security of the property and sets the stage for the next phases of development.

Preparing for Infrastructure

The upcoming months will be crucial as we aim to begin the infrastructure phase before fall. This includes constructing roads, laying down utilities, and preparing pad sites. Once these foundational elements are in place, we will begin constructing the first three buildings.

Carol Borden

The Founder and CEO of Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, Inc., Carol Borden, titled her first dog at the age of ten. Mrs. Borden has logged nearly 60 years training dogs in multiple disciplines, from competition to training a dog for a movie, to training the #1 Service Dog in the US, which was the first service dog to ever become the Top American Dog Hero winning over all categories of working dogs in the United States. She started the non-profit Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs organization in 2010.

Mrs. Borden’s expertise and accomplishments are acknowledged by numerous national awards from various industries and agencies including the 2018 Corporate Pet Industry Woman of the Year and multiple awards for her organization’s work in mental health and suicide prevention.

She is frequently requested as a Keynote Speaker, and as an Industry Consultant to teach service dog laws to judicial systems, attorneys, and businesses, and to assist in service dog bills in multiple states that were passed into law. In 2020, she started an Institute for Higher Learning and the Borden Veterinary Hospital. Additionally, she has written and teaches college-accredited/VA-approved apprenticeship courses on dog training and service dog training.
