At Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, Inc. (GAMSD), we’re dedicated to empowering veterans, first responders, and individuals with disabilities by providing highly trained service dogs that help people regain independence and improve their quality of life. Our service dogs are trained to assist with a range of conditions, including PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), mobility challenges, seizure and diabetic disorders, and hearing impairments. We also offer lifelong support, including a Medical Savings Plan that covers veterinary care, ensuring both our recipients and their service dogs receive the highest standard of ongoing care.
Through partnerships with nationally certified mental health professionals and our VA-approved, college-accredited apprenticeship program, we’re advancing service dog training methods and setting a high standard of excellence across the industry. Driven by compassion and a commitment to lifelong support, we strive daily to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our recipients and their families.
We are up to 2x more effective at successfully training service dogs than the industry average.
We ask up to 46% less for a service dog sponsorship than our peers.
We maintain ongoing support before, during, and after pairing our service dogs with recipients. We cover travel expenses for the pairing process and offer comprehensive post-pairing assistance, including access to a traveling trainer, a peer support community, quarterly check ups with our recipient relations team, access to our 24 hour on campus veterinary team, and a dedicated veterinary fund to cover medical costs for the service dog.
We can measure the life-changing impact of our service dogs, with recipients reporting significant reductions in anxiety, depression, and panic attacks. Most notably, we have had zero recipient suicides, highlighting the profound positive effects these dogs provide.
We contribute to groundbreaking scientific and congressional research, advocate for the rights of disabled individuals, and provide education on service dog laws. Our innovative services also include a unique, VA approved, college-accredited apprenticeship program, designed to set new industry standards and support future service dog trainers.

Guardian Angels gave me the best part of my life! My life changed 100% for the better after receiving my dog. I am able to do things I could not do before, and Guardian Angels has become like a family to me.
Guardian Angels is proud to have paired hundreds of individually trained medical service dogs with deserving recipients across the nation since our beginning in 2010. At Guardian Angels, no recipient is ever charged for their service dog.
My name is Kathy Marshall, and my helper and best friend is Jule! Jule and I have been to gather for just over 1 year, and I can’t remember my life without her! Everyone I have worked with, and have helped me, through this process, has been wonderful to us both! Guardian Angels are just a fantastic organization, and I am so very thankful for my world again!!!
