September is National Suicide Prevention Month—a time to raise awareness and inspire action. At Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, we believe in the profound difference a service dog can make in the lives of those struggling with mental health challenges like PTSD, seizures, diabetes and/or mobility challenges.
Unleashing the Power to Heal
Our mission is simple yet powerful. We train and pair medical service dogs for veterans, first responders, and civilians with permanent disabilities. Since our inception almost 15 years ago, we have successfully paired nearly 450 service dog teams across 32 states. The results speak volumes—we have not had one recipient suicide since we began our mission, although many recipients come to us with multiple suicide attempts.
The Impact of a Guardian Angel
The impact of these incredible dogs extends beyond companionship because of the tasks they can perform for their recipient. They offer a renewed sense of independence, a purpose, and, most importantly, hope by doing things for them that a recipient can no longer do for themself. For many veterans and first responders, grappling with the weight of their disability can feel isolating. Our service dogs provide an unwavering support system, leading to life-changing improvements in mental health and well-being.
Why Your Support Matters
While we are proud of our accomplishments, much more must be done. The need for our services only continues to grow. By donating to Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, you help us train and pair more life-changing dogs with those who need them the most.
How You Can Help
Together, we can ensure that more heroes get the support they deserve. Consider donating today to help us continue our life-saving mission. Your contribution directly impacts the lives of veterans and first responders, providing them with a highly skilled medical service dog who can truly make a difference.
Let’s make this National Suicide Prevention Month a time of hope, healing, and support. Together, we can change lives.
