“With Foxy by my side, I’ve found the strength and confidence to navigate daily life once again.”
As a US Marine Corps Veteran, I faced numerous challenges after my service. I was so lucky to be paired with a beautiful Super Medical Service Dog, Foxy, from Guardian Angels in May 2020. With Foxy by my side, I’ve found the strength and confidence to navigate daily life once again. She’s more than just a Service Dog; she’s my companion, my confidante, and my lifeline. The staff, the trainers, and the entire organization have been incredible throughout this process.
I was paired with Foxy during COVID-19. Because of this, their team planned out and conducted our training by coming to us in Western PA. My New Normal has already become a reality, and it would not have happened without the Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs team. I truly have been blessed to have been paired with Foxy. She’s my beacon of hope; I am forever grateful for that. They have made a difference in my life!
In 2021, Foxy was selected as the Guardian Angels’ Service Dog Hero Dog of the Year. The award recognizes a dog who goes above and beyond the call of their training and displays extraordinary efforts. Foxy was chosen because she used her skills and training to awaken Craig one night when the building they were in caught fire. Craig was in a deep sleep from his medication and was awoken by Foxy, who was on his chest, jumping up and down repeatedly and licking his face. Once awake, he heard sirens, and he and Foxy were able to get safely outside the building.
