Dogs Need Computers Too! – Our Technology Fundraiser

Exciting News! Donation matching is happening!!

To help Guardian Angels reach it’s goal faster, two very generous donors have come forward, and offered to MATCH every donation designated for this technology fundraising event up to $3,000!!

Donate now, and your gift will count as double what you give!

We’re 30% of the way to our goal –  and with your help,  added to the matching donations

we can get there in no time! Let’s go!

Nearly 90 cents of every dollar donated to Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs goes to rescue, raise, train and then donate these incredible service dogs to our deserving recipients. Amazing.

But dogs need computers too! Because we put every available penny toward our super service dogs, sadly, our technology gets left behind, and we need your help.  We realize that in order to continue the incredible growth we’ve experienced over the past few years, we need to streamline, modernize and mobilize.

We have begun building a large database that will assist us in many ways, and help us work faster and smarter. But the few computers we do have are old, slow and frankly, don’t have enough power to run many necessary applications.

To do all of this, and continue helping more people in need faster – we need you.

We need to raise $15,000 to make all these amazing things happen. We know this sounds like a lot, but believe us when we say that every penny donated will be put to it’s absolute best use. And should there be an overage in donations – that money will go directly back to our pairing programs.

We are honored to have incredible people surrounding our organization. As the saying goes, many hands make light work!

Please send a gift today.  Just $25.00 from each of our friends can get us there in a hurry, and help us help more veterans and civilians on our waiting list!

Below is an outline of our plan and how we plan to use the technology.

  1. Build the database – this is in process now. The database will give us access to all of our records, and assist us in working more efficiently in the ways outlined below:

Applicants: The database will allow us to quickly answer applicant questions; where they are in the process, update us on who’s been in contact with them, and help our applicant review department make decisions quickly. It will also speed the review of documentation regarding their application – without running to the filing cabinet!

Recipients – Did you know that we have over 150 recipient teams? Once we pair a recipient with a Super Service Dog; we don’t ever just forget about them – they become our family for life. This program will allow us to keep up to date on their follow up training, any issues they’re having, veterinary care of their service dogs, and more.

Dogs – You may already know that at any given time we have up to 80 dogs in training at our facility. This database will allow our team to utilize mobile tablets to quickly record:

  • Veterinary records
  • Feeding schedules
  • Immunizations
  • Training schedules
  • Sharable notes on each dog in real-time

Donor Tracking – We will be able to have much quicker access to all of our wonderful donors; tracking communication & responses, as well as ensuring we continue to keep in contact, and are updating you regularly with information of what we’re up to, and the wonderful things your donations have helped us    accomplish.

Bookkeeping – Our database will allow us to automatically record expenses, and make audits and tax time a breeze! This will save our all-volunteer board of directors tons of hours in recording expenses manually, and stacking up paper receipts to take to the accountant.

  1. Add the technology – If you can believe it, our Executive Director works on a laptop that was donated (used) 3 years ago – it was 3-4 years old when she received it. Here’s what we need to purchase to get us up & running:
  • 8 laptops
  • 8 tablets
  • Traveling projector
  • Water (and drool) resistant cases for tablets
  • Software subscriptions
  • Locking cables for the equipment
  1. Education – These new laptops will enable us to travel and educate people more effectively. This will support our mission to pioneer education and scientific study to further the advancement of service dog training, raising awareness of the service dogs laws and lessoning the dependency of the handicapped on the government, care givers and families.
